Weld County Weed Division Division - List B

The noxious weeds mandated for control are plants that are non-native to North America. Consequently, these plants do not have the natural checks found in their native land such as insects or diseases. Due to the competitive aggressive nature of these plants they tend to out compete our native vegetation by forming mono-cultures.

Plants on the “B List” have the potential to be very invasive noxious weeds that quickly transform an area. These plants are typically already established in Colorado. However, on a local level (in Weld County) they may just be moving in. Therefore, eradication or control/suppression measures are indicated next to each weed species specifically for Weld County. Some species may be listed as both eradication and control. In these cases it depends on where the infestation is in the County.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture is working on the “B list” and each year they select 4 to 5 additional species to require control of. As these species are selected, this list will be updated with the management requirement. At this time it is believed that the majority of the species on this list will be designated as eradication in Weld County.
